Cheers for the replies so far.
@jm
I think a 27" x 1 1/8 tyre like the Conti UltraSport should be fine.
Now I have to check if the brake calipers do admit such 'relatively' wide tyre. (equivalent to standard 28 width)
No problems with frame as it has massive clearances.
If you...
Hi all,
I am after a set of 27" rims 36H for a restoration project.
Old frame now fully equipped with a Shimano Arrow groupset.
Modern 700c wheels look 'too small' and also cannot use the calipers just for few mm. Hope that the extra 4mm (each side) provided by a 27" rim will make...
I hope that too.
I was looking for some info about cromovelato this morning and the web page was certainly down...
It will be a catastrophe to loose such wealth of resources, pics, info, etc....
And what's not to love on this frame!
Every Gazelle frame posted by Elev12K in this section is just such beauty.
I am started to become quite fond of these lovely frames: nice craftmanship, attention to detail, and understated but elegant paintjobs.
What a fantastic find! Congratulations!
I just lust after that GIOS Super Record.
There were few commemorative edition frames going on on ebay a month ago and I am sure they fetched crazy prices.
Lovely bike. Post more pics when you have it restored.
I am sure other forum members already know of these two great sites devoted to classic road bikes.
Both of them are truly fantastic.

Enjoy.
Indeed, they look gorgeous!!
At the moment, however, more concerned about getting the spindle length right rather than the aesthetics of the BB.
Peter White Cycles has more info about this BB and a list of BB lengths and cranks compatibility...
Ok, cheers for the input.
I suspected from the beginning that this was going to be the tricky part of the project :(
I did a quick search at Campoldy for the BB models mentioned by dbmtb and all of them that they still have in stock are 111mm.
Then I checked the web page of Chicken...
Hi all,
I need a BB for my recently acquired Italian vintage frame but I am not sure about what spindle length should I get.
Basically, I have a set Campagnolo Chorus cranks which came originally fitted with a 111mm English threaded BB for standard 68mm BB shell.
Now I want to fit...
What a beauty! A truly amazing frame at a bargain price...
Pity, it doesn't have brace ons for downtube shifters, otherwise I would have been really tempted to buy it.
Thanks everybody for the interest and the offers of parts to complete my build. Hopefully I will post pictures of the finished steed in few weeks at the classic road forum.
I have sourced a pair of Campag Record pedals which should arrive in few days. Today I have won an auction for a 26.8...
To dbmtb:
Many thanks for the offer. I prefer to wait a bit to see if anything comes up, otherwise I will pm you in a week time. First I am going to check if I can get the toe-clips for these pedals. As you rightly indicated, they would match perfectly he whole group set (mainly early 90s...
Thanks for the interest! But preferably looking to swap.
I will leave the post for a couple of weeks. If no one is interested, I will then consider selling it for cash and look for the 26.8 seatpost at the 'bay
I have managed to source most parts for my classic racer restoration project, but I am still struggling to find the following components:
Campagnolo Aero Seatpost 26.8 diameter.
I already have one in 27.2 in great condition (early 90s Chorus, I believe) which, if interested, I will gladly...
