    Has anybody used a 28 tooth rear freewheel with a sun tour VX derailleur? The max apparently is 26.

    I picked up this 1984 Dawes Renown last year, all in original condition apart from the cables and tyres. The previous owner had passed away and it was sold by his wife, she told that he took it on holiday to France but rarely rode it.

    Re: Use the first picture as a reference. Could you not slide a pointed screw driver along the cable guide slot into the nipple and lever the nipple out?
