    Fit for restore?

Still got to remove the cranks but havn't got a tool yet. Started to remove the paint, is anyone able to tell what type of tubing it might be? It is very grey coloured!

    Fit for restore?

Got the forks off now, the bolt section of the quil stem had a bit broken off so gonna need to get hold of a new one from somewhere. Gonna strip the paint off and see what is what.

    Grifter and Bomber

The bomber is actually a really nice riding position, the wide bars and lean back sprung seat make it ideal for cruising 8)

    Grifter and Bomber

I wanted a whole blue bomber originally, the black and chrome has really grown on me though!

    Grifter and Bomber

I want to restore the XL but think I'll wait until the winter, the decals are £30, might not sound like much but that is more than I paid for the bike! Still as it is all there, think that is pretty much all I'll need to spend, depending on how I paint the frame

    Grifter and Bomber

Here is the bomber after a bit a clean up, went out for a cruise along the beach - could almost hear "Easy Rider" in my head! 8)

    Grifter and Bomber

The Grifter is completely standard, the saddle is correct for a Grifter XL. It is still a HEAVY bike, much heavier than the bomber. All the weight of the Grifter is to the rear so will pop wheelies at will :D

    Grifter and Bomber

Well I am fairly new to this retro mullarky, have got my eye out for an Orange P7 or earlyish Kona and I also really want a blue Raleigh Bomber for cruising along the beach. Anyway in the meantime I have been working on my old Bianchi road bike and then bump into a friend of my parents who I...

    Fit for restore?

The cranks are cotterless. Having not touched anything in a bike fettling sense since I was about 17, I suppose I could be described as a noob, basically since going past 30 I have got all nostalgic over stuff from BITD (early mid life crisis!??). I do now remember having to use an extactor...

    Fit for restore?

Well here it is so far. I have (not very scientifically) weighed it and with the bits still left on it weighs 6.3KG - lighter than I expected!

    Fit for restore?

Blimey that is a lot cheaper than I expected. I was thinking of getting it powder coated white, with black decals and black cables but for that price maybe I should go traditional - like you say it is quite a pretty frame, fairly intricate lugs etc. I still would love to find some more info...
