I bought this frame a few years ago at the CRC clearance auction when they joined Wiggle. It was branded as a COVE, which is why i bought it. When i went to pick it up I realised it wasnt a COVE but just had COVE decals on.
Can anyone help me identify what it might be? There are a few...
Re:
Loving this build. A real retro vibe with the anodised colourings. I remember Titus frames from way back when and thought they were great. At £150 you got yourself a steal.
You going to continue the multi coloured theme and get some Hope brakes?
Looking foward to future updates
Excellent! Its a labour of love which will no doubt take months to complete. I would love an ATX 1 as it was the bike of dreams back in 1998!
I will upload pics of the CNC process when im making the disc mount and the new linkage plates- hopefully in the next week
Re:
I explained this in one of my previous posts- it was very difficult to manufacture with the machine i have. This new design is very straight forward by comparison. It also allows me to change the size of disc i use, further down the line if i wish. The image i uploaded of the carbon...
I picked up a new Fox shock to replace the knackered RST coil shock that has been on the bike since 1997. The original shock measures 180 i2i and the new one measures 184 i2i. This means that my new plates don’t fit- so i will have to remake them with a few alterations to allow for the...
Thanks for the feedback so far guys. I have updated the previous posts with points i missed. This is an ongoing project and no doubt i will be adding and changing bits and pieces as time goes on!
Below is a picture of the XT levers, Thompson bars and Ritchey WCS grips.
The groupset i had on the bike was a mish mash of various components I had in the garage which were replaced most weekends when I was racing. I had an Ultegra rear derailleur (short cage), AC DH cranks, XT Shifters and XT V Brakes. I decided all this had to be replaced - which led me to my...
As well as manufacturing these linkage plates, I replaced the stem, handlebars, seat post and seat collar with Thompson components. I have used these parts on builds I have done in the past and I am a fan.
Another thing i wanted to alter on this build was the forks. I had an old set of...
I raced this bike back in 1997 when I was a teenager and have used it very little since then. I decided last year to use it as a pass time build and it has snowballed into a bigger project than I had intended. Before I started I had thought about restoring it as it was back in 97 but after a...
Re:
Another update on this project. I have waited long enough to try and source an alternative rear end so rather than wait any longer i decided to design a bracket that would hold the rear disc caliper. So far i just have it 3D printed and hope to get it CNC’d in the next couple of weeks.
Im hoping to convert my old Giant ATX to 1x10 set up but what i dont understand is the measurements that are quoted when doing this. I read somewhere that the alignment might be an issue and the measurements are a guide to how this can be fixed/ corrected.
First time doing this so I dont...
