Are these Herse cantilever brake arms?

Re: Yes, they do look like Jan Heine's reproductions. But, they have been in a shed for 40 years and the reproductions have only been available for a year or so. For mine to be reproductions, we would have to go all wibbley-wobbley timey-wimey. Also note that only one side of my arms is forked...

Are these Herse cantilever brake arms?

I've asked about this on the Classic Rendezvous site, but nobody has acknowledged knowing of Herse brakes with these forked ends on the arms. There seems to be a prevalence of opinion that these are Herse, but I'm still a bit skeptical. Maybe they are Toei copies? Anybody familiar with these...

Follis tandem decal examples, +/- 1959?

I'm looking for photographs of decals from a Follis tandem, circa 1959, so I can have them recreated. I've just built up a frameset using parts from period-correct to about 1980, with the goal of creating a good rider: https://flic.kr/s/aHskvKLQid. May as well make it look good, too. Thanks...

Unusual Shimano 600 crank, three arm?

Many thanks for this very helpful information. I am always so very impressed by the expertise of the old guard on this site!

Unusual Shimano 600 crank, three arm?

I have a set of unusual Shimano 600 cranks (photo attached). The chainring spider has three short arms. Can't find anything online about these. Can somebody provide some information? The date code is AD, which I interpret as 1976. Thanks!

    PoTM November - Nominations please

San Diego, February 1982 This certainly won't compete on photographic artistry, but it has some historical charm. My still-stock '81 Ritchey stands in a rare snow patch in San Diego's Cuyamaca Mountains, February 1982. Yes, its the same bike I still ride (though I've been through several tails).

Schwinn Cycletruck '49 on Craig's List

I've been corresponding with the owner of this 1949 Schwinn Cycletruck: http://sandiego.craigslist.org/ssd/bik/2029039482.html. He wants more than I can spend -- "must get $400" -- but it could be a good buy for someone. The detail pics show original fenders, wheels (including what appears to be...

    My 1970 Lygie road bike

OK, I cheated. I don't have this bike anymore. But, here I am riding it in a criterium in 1970 wearing the green, white, and black of the San Diego Bicycle Club competition team. Been having some fun scanning old slides.

    Date this GT?

Thanks, folks! Thanks for identifying the bike, folks! It's not old enough for me to go for it. If someone else is interested, let me know as the seller is in my town and I would happily help with the arrangements. Also just spotted a restorable '40s-vintage Schwinn Cycletruck with mostly...

    Date this GT?

I was poking around Craig's List and spotted this GT: http://sandiego.craigslist.org/csd/bik/2034099177.html. I don't know much about them, as I was retiring from the sport about the time they were coming in. I'm guessing late '80s, though. Anybody have more knowledge? Thanks!

    Work bikes

Work trailer Nice rig with trailer, Madjez. When I was 16 (1971), I lived with my parents on the hill above La Jolla, California <http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/La_Jolla,_San_Diego,_California>. (Didn't have to be rich back then.) I was a bike racer and also a scuba diver. During the summer...

    Most under-rated retro bike

Ross Mt Whitney Sometime around '83 or '84, I had my Ritchey repainted and some braze-ons added. While it was in work, I got a Ross Mt Whitney from the guy who handled marketing for Ross. (He was a regular at events like Crested Butte, and I also knew him from tradeshows where we both...

    My brother's keeper, cyclewise

My brother called me last night rather upset. The Trek I built up for him in 1982 had broken through the top tube and lug at the head tube. Trashed. He was bummed. After all, only 28 years of hard commuting and the frame breaks? Well, I told him to bring the bike over and I'd see what I could...

    Show us your shed!!

Re: Epoch's beautifully stocked beer fridge The Condor Team was from Guadalajara. Beyond that, I don't recall much. My attempts to find references on Google yielded nothing. Augustin Alcantara was a Mexican winning races in California at the time and regarded with awe, but I'm not sure he was...
