Just purchased some decals from Steve. Excellent service. I asked for some practice decals included in my order. All supplied promptly with my order - same service as before from my point of view. However, I only bought one set before from Nick.

Lovely job, well done - who did the paint? Down tube friction shifters do take some practice after the simplicity of brifters. After a bit it becomes second nature. It didn't take me long to find out that Mafac Racer brake levers won't shift the gears a jot!
I am wanting to add at least two bottles on my retro rebuild. I want to handlebar mount them. Any ideas where I can get something that at least looks reasonably 50/60s. The real thing does not seem to turn up very often so it looks as if I will have to buy something new. Any suggestions where I...
Re:
Thanks - very helpful - just what I needed to know.
Now another one.
What thread are the small grease nipple holes that are in the BB and headset lugs? The respray has left them a bit clogged.
I am rebuilding a British 1950s bike. I am looking for new replacement bolts for the following components:
1) Headlamp boss on front forks.
2) Mudguard and carrier eyes on dropouts.
3) Campag down tube studs.
Anyone out there know what threads these should be? I have been through my misc bolts...
I have just revived my 1985 Langsett frame for use as a winter bike. Modern road frames don’t seem to have sufficient clearance for 28mm tyres. The 40” wheelbase and steel frame make it is lovely ride. I've certainly needed the mudguards today. I am going to move the second bottle mount to the...
Head Badge rivet spacing and orientation - Is there a database anywhere on this forum (or elswhere for that matter)?
Those of us with unidentified or miss-identified frames would find it useful information. At the very least it may help in ruling out certain builders.
I am also looking to source 26 x 1 1/4 tyres. To look right I want amber walled and as light as posssible. The Raleigh ones look a bit agricultural on a racer. I have looked on the Interner but can find nothing suitable. Any ideas?

"What's so unusual about the brake mounts that's preventing you fit 105s?"
The 105s use a recessed allen key style bolt whereas the Mafacs have threaded bolt + nut. I was hoping to avoid having to drill out the brake mounting hole.
I have been offered a Shimano 105 10 speed groupset (minus BB set) at a good price from someone who is upgrading. I have a 1980s Langsett road frame that I am considering as a suitable home for the some of the bits. My plan is to transfer the 105 gears + brifters. The Langsett has Mafac Racer...
I recall similar ones on my old trike in 1968. I think that was a TA 5 pin cottered set, if I remember correctly. It was a b***r to set up and had smaller OD cotter pins than standard english ones.
