    I agree. If you don't see it & it doesn't bother you & it allows you to keep using the bike, then go with a more up to date BB.

    Shimano Dura Ace Octalink BB7700 bottom bracket, 109.5 x 68. I've got 2 of these English threaded & 1 Italian. Brand new in boxes. Looking for £40 each posted.

    My "new" Orbit road bike

    My first "made to measure" frame was from a small specialist builder in Cheltenham. Well, I thought it was. When it needed a respray I had it shot-blasted & there at the top of the seat stays was stamped "Orbit". Not a very "in" manufacturer in the early 90's (that's 1990's).

    wheel building

    Roger Musson (I think that's his name) has written a really simple book (Google it). I've built quite a few wheels with pretty good success & yes, you don't need any special tools apart from a spoke key.
