Thanks for that. Paint overall is good. It has its areas. The fork has certainly had a few knocks and scrapes and is a bit duller in areas. Also the chainstay has losses but I'm all for character. Glad you enjoyed the read
Bit of a teaser. All together and setup. Couple of tweaks to be had but it's a fun thing. Literally had a 10 min spin around the block.
I need to tweak the gears, adjust a few positions and then get some proper photos when I can.
Couple of bits came today.
Firstly my tyres came. Maxxis DTH. A well trodden path in the modern / retro MTB world. Could have gone big apples or billy bonkers etc but I really like the flash of yellow.
New 7 speed block. The chain was slipping on the old one so despite a waste if elbow...
Update. Despite all of my efforts, the rear cassette is toast. Put a new chain on as the old one was really stretched and it keeps jumping teeth under power. New 7 speed 11-28 on the way.
Also new tyres arrive this week. Going for a 26x2.15 Maxxis DTH. Seen loads of retro MTB builds on these...
First time setting up Canti brakes. They look a bit baffling at first but found a really good video and actually found it really easy. They seem good too.
(Old tyres will be going. Waiting for new ones to arrive)
After a bit of a search I came across some period correct Deore LX wheels. Really happy to get these. Seem in really good nick too.
Only thing is they were properly grimy with a capital G. Don't think the cassette has ever had a clean in its life. It was on there TIGHT too
