......stripped the threads whilst tightening the cable :(
Any suggestions on how to make a repair on this 960? I was thinking of using some of that metal putty to 'remake' the threads any thoughts or should this be heading to the bike shop in the sky?
I've got a seized Shimano BB on my Bear Valley SE, I've done exactly that and the bloody thing still won't move, even a subtle application of heat and plenty of penetrating spray hasn't helped. Anymore suggestions?
Great frame, only used as a stopgap until I finished the Marin Pine Mountain but I'm now thinking of getting sprayed/powercoated as she's definitely a keeper!
If you've got it put it on.....and enjoy it!
I've got a mix of 950 and 960 on my 1991 Marin and if can sort out the chainring combination I'll put a 900 crank on her.
Plus or minus a couple of mm, but I need to replace the 122mm one I have to correct the chain alignment. Must be square taper, ideally Shimano compatible.
So swap/purchase of axle or complete bottom bracket.
Many thanks,
Damian
I've bought stuff from Si and he's helped me out on one occasion, definitely one of the 'good guys'.
So sorry to hear about the accident, best wishes for speedy recovery.
