I know that there's not too many al-mega frames in one piece these days but if you've got one then this might be of interest.

Re: alpinestars Al-Mega DX 1991
That's what I did with my original al-mega dx.
Once it got scruffy I stripped it and polished it and put on later model decals.
It lasted from 1993 to 2000 when the frame cracked.
Re: alpinestars Al-Mega DX 1991
That looks great. It's amazing how good a finish you can do with cans if you prep' right and take a bit of care. Have you got the parts to finish it?
Re: alpinestars Al-Mega DX 1991
Have you got your decals yet? What I did was place them on the frame and pencil mark where they would cover and then masked off the white frame and applied the fluro.
Re: alpinestars Al-Mega DX 1991
1991. My favourite alpinestars vintage. :) How's the fluro' going on? When I did mine it took a few coats to get a finish I was happy with.
I noticed that tab and I've never seen another like that. The Tange decal in the brochure for the 1992 LX frame is this one:
The True Temper sticker was on the DX version.
Is that an original frame or has it been refurbished? If it's the latter then they may have put the wrong decal on it. The catalogue spec for 1992 says Tange db tubes.

1992 cro-mega LX had Tange double butted tubing and the DX had True Temper OX II tubing. The 1991 LX had plain guage tubing so maybe that's the one you're thinking of.
