That was my first thought, but no, there are plenty of differences between them, they only seem to share a blue and white colour scheme, and even that is very different.

My wife picked it up for me from a charity shop yesterday and, other than having Raleigh branded components and a Raleigh sticker proclaiming it has Shimano STI shifting, there is nothing to indicate the model or year. The serial on the seat tube doesn't conform to any Raleigh standard, 9059706...

Seems we have the same Brooks saddle too, though unsure if that was original or not. I'm happy to settle on 82, seems to be a general consensus. Yours looks to be a tidy bike. Coming from a mountain bike I think I'd like your triple chainset too.

Thanks, for those links, I will have a look for the date code on the brakes later. I have searched Google and found one image that appears to be exactly the same as mine in colour scheme, decals, and badging. the guy who posted the shot bought his new in 1980 so I think we are pretty near with...

I agree with all the above but would add that, after just returning ti live in the UK after many years in Paris, UK queues are wonderful in comparison to what you would experience in a French supermarket.

Re: So, as promised, i took a few quick shots after taking her for a test ride this morning. I had been looking for a restoration project, but quite like her originality and patina, so will just settle for a good clean and then use her daily. Where do I find the frame number btw? A few more...

I can't remember what forks it came with, probably Indys, but prior to these it wore a pair of bright Orange Bomber Z1s, I loved those forks but part exed them for these and a engine rebuild on my car when money was tight!
