I don't think you should be put off. Give the welds a visual check - the one I took to pieces was off a frame that had gone rusty at most of the junctions. There is a FB group of loyal owners and they don't talk about failures at all. Many of the failures will have failed by now and many of...
1989 Touristique 23". Wheels and tyres look good, but given the condition of the paintwork and the rubbage to the cranks, you might need to lower your price. The paint on those was quite thin and pourous allowing the years to take their toll, especially if left in a damp place.
I have a 21" almost mint, fully restored 1989 Pathfinder with upgraded brake calipers and levers, cartridge BB, Suntour XCE front and rear derailleurs with a new Muddy Fox saddle and new tan wall tyres.
The mint gear is on the Peak not the Apex. So are you really just after the frame? The Apex frame has quite a few storage knocks to the paint but it is sound - I rebuilt it for my daily runabout. I am in Ashbourne Derbyshire btw.
I like both Cov and British Eagle. I have a collection of B.E's...
What, you would have me parted from my super comfortable Apex? Quite rare as a 1993... Having said that, I don't really need all of these... Where are you? The British Eagle is v. nice (22") but that stem will be too short - I am 5'10". The Peak has new decals now and I don't think I can part...
New from Fred Williams in Wolverhampton in 1985 for £133 without saddle, wheels and block because I got a Mavic/Campag Tipo/Sachs block build instead. Fred was probably annoyed that I wanted bits of a new bike rather than the whole. I thought I knew what I was doing but I didn't really. The...
Here is what I did with my original Pro(?)- toured with it in Canada among other places (not me in the pic btw). It had the SR drillium chainset (replaced with a single Campag 48 and Cyclone mechs. Top cable clips were Campag, CrMo sticker, Cinelli bars and stem.
The paintwork is sad but I don't want to respray it. The block can't be original - 5 speed Suntour 14-28T - I'll put a Cyclone GT mech on it. Cinelli stem and bars, Shimano LB100 shifters, Tourney brakes (ripe for an upgrade).
Did you see the red Super Pro that went on Ebay a few days ago...
Thanks for those brochure copies. Those quarter inch sizes, are they to the top of the seat tube? Mine doesn't say 'Professional' - why not I wonder? What are those drop-outs do you know? A friend picked mine up. I will get him to date the hubs.
