    Crank Bolts 1st Gen Chorus

Re: Any of the later Campagnolo ones apart from the self-extracting type will work. These for example: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Campagnolo-C ... SwS-xfN~Xr

    Carradice Sadlebag Advice

Re: I don't think you'd get an 800g loaf of bread in a Barley without squashing it. I used to commute with a Nelson on an SQR mount. Good size for a small bag of shopping and the SQR mount keeps it away from your legs.

What's the relevance of a pitted hub cone/cup?

Re: As I've got way too much time on my hands, I thought I'd measure the amount of movement of the cones when the quick release is done up. My understanding is that it's the slight play in the threads that causes this to happen. Using the setup in the photo, I measured 0.07 mm difference...

    Campagnolo brake lever identification

Re: Good news is that they appear to take the same hoods as the later generations of Record lever, which are relatively easy to get hold of. Last set I bought was only just over a year ago from Condor Cycles in London.

    Bianchi frame cracking

Re: A real shame but I don't think there's anything that can be done. The parts should go on a newer frame up to a point of course.

Do modern Campagnolo cables work with retro groups ?

Re: Absolutely they will work but they're not cheap! Also, Campagnolo have (or certainly had last time I bought a set) stopped supplying the ferrules, which makes them doubly bad value for money. Loads of places sell the lined outer cable and it will be fine for 7 speed! The only thing you...

    Gazelle AA special frame

Re: A huge amount of Gazelle information to be found here http://www.gazellechampionmondial.nl/framenumbers.html If you can find out the frame number, you can find out the year, and from that get an idea of what features it should have (not a 100% guarantee as some were optional). Not...

    Campag parts identification

Re: That crank is either Croce D'Aune or a 90s Chorus - the cranks are the same, but the chainring markings are different. If the rings say 52-AS then they're Croce D'Aune, if the big ring has paired markings (e.g. 52/39), then it's the later Chorus. Those self extracting bolts go into left...

    Convert 7speed Campagnolo to Compact

Re: I concur with pigman and hamster. The best I've had with Nuovo Record is 50:36 with 14:26 at the back. The problem is that if you have sufficient chain length to clear big ring / big sprocket, then when you put it in the small ring, there isn't enough chain tension to bring the cage...

Eddy Merckx frame- junk or worth rebuilding?

Re: That's from the gas-pipe end of the market I would say. Still a good find as it looks pretty cool. If I had it, I'd wait until the cycle jumble scene starts back up and fit it out with cheap old parts. It would make a good pub/student bike.

Idenifying 1970s Zeus *Edited to include pictures*

Re: Looks to be a fully chromed frame, from the photos it appears to be in good condition. The small Zeus accessories decal looks like it could be genuine, so perhaps the frame was originally fitted with a Zeus group? A google image search of Zeus bike throws up a few bikes with similar...

Pinarello - tatty but with interesting crankset

The one on the bike is Victory with the self extracting bolts, the eBay ad photo is Triomphe with the dust caps. 116 is a bit of a pain, but I was lucky at a cycle jumble last year and found a set of 50/35 rings in perfect condition. Always worth rummaging through boxes of chainrings :D

    Bianchi Specialissima old vs new

    Campagnolo BB question

Re: You're correct that you need the 114.5 axle for post 1978 Record. There are different types of axles though - some of the cups had thick walls and some had thin ones, so the bearing shoulders on the axles aren't all the same distance apart. The outside edges of the bearing shoulders on a...

    Xenon Crankset Spindle Compatibility?

Re: Unfortunately, that is probably the wrong BB. There are 2 types of 111 mm Campagnolo bottom bracket, one symmetrical for most double cranks and one asymmetrical for Record triples. I've seen a few like that over the years where they just say 111 ISO and don't say what for.
