Why? Bikes - anyone heard of them?

"The business moves to Llanrhaeadr Ym Mochnant and the Tandem Shop opens in The Old Bakery in the High Street" That's from their website - it sounds like a very small town/village well off the beaten track.

Why? Bikes - anyone heard of them?

https://www.bicycles-by-design.co.uk/about-us/ They are even still trading - see above. And they were based 8 miles from Oswestry when the bike was made, so everything lines up.

Why? Bikes - anyone heard of them?

Just had a reply from Jacksons: "Why Bikes was the brain child of Pete Bird ( Swallow Tandems) We built loads of the Why Bikes for him, You are right this built in 1998 and the Citrus colour is original." So nice to know where it came from, and thanks to Jacksons for the fast reply with good info.

Why? Bikes - anyone heard of them?

I've dropped them a line. I think a 5 digit number around 22XXX is about right for a 97/8 Jackson - but I couldn't find much on frame numbers for Jackson's online. Curious more than anything. My 5' daughter loves it.

Why? Bikes - anyone heard of them?

I've just picked up a tiny fillet brazed late 90s woman's road bike labelled Why? Bikes. Has anyone any info on this make? The chap I bought it from said they were in Oswestry, and had frames made by Jacksons. It's a bit of an oddity - 26" mountain bike rear and 520 front wheel, but nicely...

Re: Well I enjoyed myself though only got half way round as my 9 year old had had enough after the first loop. That was seriously hard work. Well done to anyone who got all the way round.

    July 3rd Belchford trail ride

If this has been posted already, sorry. But just to let you know, there is a trail ride happening next weekend at Belchford in Lincolnshire. Here is a link if anyone is interested: http://www.belchford.org.uk/mountain-bike-trail.html The entry fee includes some food, all in a good cause.

    Smallish mountain bike - 5' 6 male

I don't know what Orange sizing is, sorry. I have never actually ridden a mountain bike so am a bit at sea re frame sizes. It's pretty clear that the sizing is much harder to understand than road bikes.

    Smallish mountain bike - 5' 6 male

I'm looking for something to ride an off road event beginning of July (The Belchford one in Lincolnshire, with my daughter). I don't want anything with suspension, and ideally something that doesn't need assembling would be good. Anybody got anything oldish and interesting? I think I probably...

Norman Fay - the rise and fall

Thanks! I think it was used a little bit then put in a shed for a long time - nothing much is worn, its just been slowly rotting away. I took it for a quick spin today and liked it. Bar tape and pedal clips to come soon.

Norman Fay - the rise and fall

This is a 650B made in 1976. I'm not sure if it was built as a 650, but that is how it came to me. I don't think the brakes would work with bigger wheels. TA/Stronglight, Suntour Gears, Milremo Pedals (changed for modern copy of Lyotard platforms) and bars, Mafac Brakes, OMO brake levers...
