White handle bar tape gets dirty - quickly I made the mistake of applying some to my 1970's Dawes. I immediately removed it due to how grubby it got (probably due to fact I fix bikes for a living). If you have clean hands a lot of the time, go for it, If not, don't waste your time :)

The frame really is spot on, still! The thing that shocked me the most was the wheel, it's ever so slightly buckled, but with it being steel, easily straightened! I may just put some nice chrome forks on it, I have a few lined up so I'll put a photo up when it's fully recovered. I just can't...
