    Vintage Labadie Cyclocross build

Thanks everyone! I'll make sure to get some more pics of it this weekend. I was about to order a set of single ring fixing bolts, then I decided to measure the stock Shimano parts. They were just a few thousandths too long to fit, so a few passes of a file allowed me to save another $15 on...

Mike, I just file the first 1/32" off the backing nut and use them stock. Everything bolts right up and tightens down correctly. Took about 5 mins with a flat file to cut all the backing nuts down.

Howz about some Retro XTR goodness for the ride? I always wanted a set of the XTR cantis when they were the thing. Picked up 3 wheels worth the other day for $30. Two wheels worth even had new Ritchey pads! (my favorite brakepad). Mounted them up and I'm as impressed with them as I'd...

    Vintage Labadie Cyclocross build

Frame and fork came from a dealer in Santa Barbara CA. The proprietor travels Europe and buys out old stock for his shop. He specializes in steel frame, toe strap era bikes. I found it listed on Ebay and picked it up for nothing....

    Vintage Labadie Cyclocross build

Thanks ya'll. This is my first real cross bike and I'm very happy with it. I converted a few road bikes years ago to race cross on, but now that I've got this one, I know they were no where near right..... I've got a 39 tooth ring on the front with an 18 tooth cog on the back. I also have a...

    Vintage Labadie Cyclocross build

Well, attached below is my most recently finished bike...... I picked up this Vintage Labadie Cyclocross frame. Has 126 rear spacing, so I'm guessing its a late 80's, early 90's frameset. When the frame arrived, the headtube and bb had not been faced, and none of the threads had been...

Finished the bike, rode it around the neighborhood a bit. A few more details to tighten up, but it feels just like it always did. I hope ya'll enjoy the pics......

    s works frame- advice please...

CTK, apologies for the terrible pics, however here is the bit I mod'ed to put v-brakes on this bike. The part looked much like a cable housing ferrule with a threaded stud coming out the end. I chucked it up in a drillpress and pressed a file against the threads to file them away and make...

Ritchey P-21 Team - Resurrecting an old friend : )

I won those Cook Bros cranks as part of a prize at a regional race I always enjoyed.... 8) Lotsa miles on them to take off that black anodizing. On the GripShift 9.0 derail, you can see the V-brake noodle I installed. That was our shop trick to get the cables to run that curve well on a GS...

Ritchey P-21 Team - Resurrecting an old friend : )

Wife decided to have a long chat with her sister, so I got some good time in on the Ritchey! Managed to get the cockpit mounted, as well as the brakes, the bottom bracket and cranks, and finally the rear derailleur. I really need to spend some time cleaning a few things like the...

    s works frame- advice please...

Should not be a problem running V's. I had to come up with a solution to run V's on my P-21 years ago. Has a similar cable guide at the back for the rear brakes. I ended up modifying a little piece I found in a junk box to allow the rear brake housing to enter the existing cable guide...

Ritchey P-21 Team - Resurrecting an old friend : )

Thanks ya'll! : ) Baby steps forward.... I mounted the fork in the crown tonite. It already had the brakes on it, so was a quick swap over. I managed to find a backup fork on that auction site for about $15, so I snapped it up and consequently have spares : ) Front wheel is still...
