I've just had a look at your bikes. I have to say, that Falcon San Remo looks amazing. I'm very much lured by a bike's looks. Rightly or wrongly details like emblems, decals and colour schemes do influence me heavily. That Falcon is right up my street. Great work!
Thanks. My plan is to restore bikes but I'm new to this. I used to ride as a kid of course and I have a mountain bike and a big motorbike, so I'm no stranger to two wheels. I've never restored a bicycle though so it's going to be a learning curve. I'm looking for a cheap and tatty vintage bike...
One of the bikes I'm talking about is a late Falcon. They seem to go for about £120 to £150 in good condition. This guy wants £130 for a bike he's selling as spares or repair. It seems crackers to me. I'd rather wait until a good one comes along than pay top whack for a restoration project.
I'm in Barnsley.
I'm actually fancying something like a Falcon or Carlton as my first 'usable' vintage bike but I'm open minded. I'm finding it a bit frustrating because people are asking silly money and not budging on price. I've made offers on a couple of bikes needing restoration but the...
I'm still looking for my first vintage road bike to use for commuting. I'm looking to spend up to £300 because this is to be a workhorse that I have to leave at work. I've seen a Holdsworth Criterium within striking distance. The asking price is £150. Anyone know if it's worth that? I googled...
I've never really understood dealers who won't haggle on a sale. I had the same thing last winter when I was looking for a new motorbike. You'd think sellers would be falling over themselves for a sale when snow's on the ground but no one would budge on price. I'm expecting the same thing with...
Does anyone know anything about Mondia? What should I be paying for this model (copied & pasted from advert):

An Escort was always a working man's car in its day no matter what guise it came in, whereas a Lotus Esprit was entering the rich man's world. Rarity is also a factor when it comes to value in the collector's world. I'm a collector (not of bikes) and often mundane items that were once common are...
I think it's great that people are restoring the lower end steel bikes. They are part of cycling culture and have their place. These bikes created a lot of memories (most of us had these type of bikes rather than the top end stuff) and that has to be worth something. Maybe an ironic twist will...
