Frame now done and clear lacquered. Its come out Ok, some minor blooming between the lacquer and the green splatter - bit too heavy on first lacquer coat
Headset in - some minor fettling to the headset lock nut - had to remove the shoulder of the bottom of it as the steer tube was too short for...
Also been working on the pedals which I got from 'Once A Hero' a few weeks back.
Strip down, clean up the aluminium cages by filing out the big scratches then emery and wet and dry, same with the bodies.
Not gone too far with them, no need for mirror finish.
End caps are plastic with a chrome...
Started on the cranks, a set of graphite ones, but with some damage.
So stripped the paint off with some paint stripper and wire wool, thand starter on the 80 grit and a fine file to remove the surface blemishes and scratches.....a bit to go yet 😱
First pass with...
So, had a go with the splatter paint, using some Tamiya model making acrylics, but first I knocked together a dummy frame using sold old plastic waste pipe and a glue gun, roughly cut mitre and lots of glue, but it's quite sturdy :)
Then just had a go with couple of brushes, got more paint on...
I have yet to find out how they shift in use. Hard enough getting them off the original bars.
Remove rubber grip, then long allen key into the end and try and undo the expander bolt, one can off, one snapped the ball end of the allan key (only 4 mm). then undo the more obvious clamp bolts

The chainset is the graphite version, but needs fettling, may strip and polish, as I've done...
Maybe sell the wheels, they are very good condition, wouldn't want to split up the hubs
Hope Ti Glide Blue, Mavic 517 rims, 135 OLN rear, shimano free hub, it takes an 11 speed cassette, not sure it that means it works on other Shimano cassettes, I know Campag work 9/10/11
Evening, ref my post yesterday, only just to qualified to send direct messages, I'm after a Campag BB 124 mm for 68mm shell, your reply said you had one spare......maybe also pedals
Another post gives me a link to a new one at £45.
Prefer to save some £s if possible

'I have a very nice pair of Hope Ti Glide 26" wheels for a Kona/Campag project, but the rear is a Shimano free hub.
Hope Tech say they used to make a Campag freehub in the dim and distant past, but no more.
So, anyone got one available.
I guess if not, then...
I bought my Kona CinderCone in 1990/91 from Libra Cycles in Stockport, I think it was £500, sounds a lot back in 1990. I think it was a purchase on the back of selling a car and softened by also buying an eternity ring for my wife.
It was white with blue/red splatter paint and Suntour XCD...
