Quick question while I’m on a parts buying spree.
I’ve to replace the seals on the Marzocchi Bomber B2 forks.
The manufacturer’s stamp indicates that these were made in ’98.
Looking at a couple of websites they generally list the seals as a Marzocchi seal kit but they are not overly...
Hi Rio,
Thanks for the offer but I have my Lavadome SS set up rigid and I got this as I wanted a HT with suspension.
I was liking the look of ’08ish Stumpjumper HT's and when doing a quick search on fleaBay, Adverts etc. and I see this old M2 Stumpjumper on D/Deal in Mayo that’s not costing...
Thanks for the replies, appreciate the help.
Had bit of a closer look over the bike today, and apart from the usual cable wear & expect scrapes on a 16yr old bike, the finish on the frame is not as bad as I first thought.
I was originally thinking of spray/powder coating it but it'll...
Hi Folks,
Perhaps some could help with more specific details of this Stumpy I picked up yesterday.
My bit of searching would suggest that its a '95 going by the paint job however the frame, 'round the headstock, seems somewhat different.
Any suggestions?
In regards to the Curve brakes most Konas featured on the forum seem to have had these dropped in favor of alternative options.
From others experience what is the general option of the OE Curve brakes?
I've seen a set of Magura hydraulic rim brakes on offer at a reasonable price. These are...
Originally the plan was to carry out a basic clean up of the bike & up rate the transmission components.
The reason behind the single-speed conversion was simply to facilitate me entering the race and taking part in the festival but having used it both over the race weekend and afterwards I'm...
I had tweaked the old rear XT derailer but couldn't eliminate the chain jumping when giving her some stick. Eventually I chucked the derailer and just shortened the chain as much as possible, problem solved.
No more slippage and the chain only came off twice but, in fairness, this was only when...
The Kona did attract quite a bit of attention during the course of the weekend both during the race and at the campsite.
One particular guy had cycled over from Swansea on his later 90's single-speeded Kona carrying his gear & tent on a carrier which he removed for the race. He was trying to...
Aloha,
Am just a few days back from the World SS Championships after a great weekend of MTBing up in the hills & trails of Ballyhoura.
Great mix of single-speed nuts from all nations pushing it to the max on both bike and at the bar.
Serious mix of equipment on show ranging from old...
Found this on another forum I frequent and I thought that some here might appreciate it.
Its another single-speed MTB but its the complete build from scratch thats impressive.

Bit of progress with the various parts arriving today.
Nice to be able to retire to the shed knowing that all the parts needed were at hand, well nearly all.
Few nuts & bolts still required which I'll source tomorrow and adjust the brakes.
Hopefully that'll allow me to use Weds & Thursday...
Few things done since the last post.
Original headset & brake components are due back from the machine shop shortly so hopefully I can reclaim the original headset top and retain the original cantilever brakes.
Various new components should be here by weeks end, bar ends, cables & an 18t cog...
