Front forks makers mark AKISU, I have come to the conclusion it is a Nishiki Pinnacle, apparently the same as the Alien but with Suntour components. http://bikes.aberrance.com/pinnacle/201 ... age_2.html

    Nishiki Ariel (I think)

Retro Stud it is yellow but the paint is flaking, they have painted over a Tioga Avenger.

    Nishiki Ariel (I think)

Patina all they way   The yellow headset is actually a black Tioga Avenger, the cranks, hubs(I think) and FR and R Mechs are Suntour XC Pro, and the shifters are Suntour Express(I wonder whether the owner "upgraded" from Thumbies?) R brake is a Pederson self energising and...

Thanks for the reply the Villager is probably the closet in the gusset, but my gear cables are on the down tube on mine. There is the same green from the frame inside the fork, and the headtube is painted off White(same as Nishikis off White) the off White I would think was the base for the...

    Nishiki Ariel (I think)

Re: Really sorry about reviving such an old thread but I have just scored a bike the same as the White one above, and would love to know what it is, unique things are the gusset and the curved bracing in the stays.

Re: It really is Retro Spud, I am torn between leaving it as is, derusting and clear coating or repainting the green you see. I have been watching it for months on an auction site, got it for $20 NZ Suntour XC Mechs, hubs, poss cranks(might be Sugino) Shimano Cantis on the front, Suntour self...

Re: Heya guys, some beautiful bikes in this thread, I have one I can not figure the maker of. Some of the cable routing is the same as Nishiki, only the reinforcing bars in the rear stays are curved on mine where as straight on the Nishikis, the dropouts seem pretty common, the distinguishing...

Anyone keen on a Beater type build off?

Re: That's exactly what I found doing a challenge a while back is that the piece of crap bike I bought with its Shimano Altus group actually rode very well with the necessary re grease and tubes, tyres etc Martin, do you have a pic of the Silverfox?

Anyone keen on a Beater type build off?

MarinMartin, exactly, more fun to ride as you don't have worry about them. Do you have a Muirwoods for 90-91? As they are the same bullet proof any nice to ride

Anyone keen on a Beater type build off?

The bike was $10, I have shifters (Altus A20) that a mate bought me from the bike shop he works in, they were going in the trash, the derailleur s are fine, hubs re greaseable, bars are trash picked at a Coop, seat will get tapped then a waterproof cover put on(about $3NZ) tyres are shot but I...

Anyone keen on a Beater type build off?

This is the sorta thing I mean, can be given away afterwards if need be, I gave one to a local down on his luck a while back.

Anyone keen on a Beater type build off?

Re: Yes exactly so the budget was 50GBP but people have said it is too much, my original thought is to find something dead, needing maybe tyres but def not road worthy to start with then getting stuff like tyres 2nd hand tyres new tubes etc
