    1992 Rocky Mountain Blizzard

I went to the dark side and picked up a 2008 Blizzard, the last year of the 853 tubing. I bought a NOS XT 27.00 seatpost only discover the newer Blizzards use a 26.8. I had not thought of reaming it out. I take it the loss of the .02 of metal does not compromise the integrity?

    And so it begins......DeKerf content...COMPLETE

Re: dekerf I have just picked up my Solitaire from getting a repaint by Dekerf. It is a year 2000 that was in rough shape on the paint. Lots of nicks in the frame but no gouges. Chris did a remarkable job on the repaint (Ferrari red) and new decals. I would challenge anyone to pick it out...

Re: how many I have 4 Kleins, 3 Dekerfs, 3 Konas and 3 Ibis, a real mixture of ages....from a 1990 Kona Explosif, a 1991 Dekerf to a 2012 Ibis Tranny. 2 of the Klein's are preTrek and two are Chehalis made but post Trek. The collection is up to 22 bikes and I have maxed out on the space...

    bontrager frame info

In what year did the Bontrager frames go to the 1 1/8" head tube. I realize it would be 'trek" built frame but I imagine it still rides much the original 1" head tube frames?? I have a chance to pick one up at a decent price and having the 1 1/8" head tube is a real advantage in terms of fork...

Vote Now! What's more important when building an old bike

my reply choice is not listed either For me it is rideability. I have 20 retro builds and my promise is to either ride them regularly or part them out. So, I pick my build parts based on what I think will make the bike most fun to ride. I don't have many in my fleet that are true retro...

Rust spots - when to walk away?

rusted Fat I picked an '89 Fat Wicked that looked good, just needed a respray. I stripped the old and discovered the pitting went straight through....a series of small to medi;um pin holes. Took it to a local frame builder and he advised he could spot weld a repair. However, once he really...

    Ebay Help needed

US shipping Hi: I live in Canada but have most of my Ebay purchases shipped to a US address just across the border. I am going down to pick up a bunch of purchases likely first week of July. If you have it sent to my Blaine, Washington address I can just readdress it and send to you...

    cantilevers

canti's Rob's post is incorrect. If you use canti levers with V brakes you run the risk of doing a header. Sheldon Browne has a great explanation. Canti lever's have high mech advantage as the canti brakes are low mechanical advantage. It is the reverse with V brakes....the breakes are...

Suntour SE canti brakes Scott Pedersen selfenergizing model?

bought em! Thanks everyone for your help. I picked up a set on Ebay for $50. I was the only bidder. Picked up a set of Paul Levers, paid a lot - $100 but they are NOS and it gives me something dif other than the same old Shimano. Now I get to find out if I like them. bob

Suntour SE canti brakes Scott Pedersen selfenergizing model?

thanks Thanks for this....I will jump in and buy the set and go with the Paul levers. some online reviews made me wary regarding them being tooo grippy. But I won't be doing any real technical riding with this, mostly dike and light single track forest trails. Nothing too crazy. I...
