WOW, thank you so much, Neil, for your fantastic info! It is great to read about all the details! I have looked at the brochure page in your profile. Above I have attached the complete 1991 brochure - unfortunately it is in German... The brochure says that the bike has XT...

    Diamond Back Axis

Ohh, a couple of remarks. @Anthony: The stem is definitely 130mm. Just measured it again to be absolutely sure. @Neil: How many bikes do you have? :D I have the strong feeling that many bike freaks here in this forum have 3, 4 or even more bikes!

OK, I will ride it for a while and see how it all develops. Maybe in a month, I am 110% happy (now it is 95%). Probably I just have to get used to driving a new bike. Maybe the size issue is also just a psychological thing - now that my new bike is 1000 times better than my old bike, and...

    Diamond Back Axis

I have taken some pictures that show what the bike looks like now. Which was not so easy somehow - taking pictures of a bike is also an art form! :D I removed a couple of unnescessary parts, like the bell and the front reflex :) I added a beavertail splashguard on the back wheel, since I...

How do you weigh your bikes?! I would like to know how much my bike weighs too! :)

Thank you for your fantastic drawing - it looks great! This center to center thing changes everything: Now my stem is 130mm and the top tube is 55cm (21,65"). I used to measure center to center too, but unfortunately it was a different center to center.

Thank you for the great idea! I just measured the T Bone and from the back of the back and to the front of the front, it seems to be exactly 150mm! :o I also measured the top tube of my old MTB and this was exactly 52cm - just like my new one! I have been driving my old bike...

    Diamond Back Axis

Yeah, I am surprised how light the bike is. The most astonishing for me is, that it rolls really well. When I for example aproach a red light, other bikers keep pushing, whereas I do nothing - we still get there at the same time! :) I have tried to measure the top tube. It measured 52cm or...

    Diamond Back Axis

Yeah, I am almost certain that it is the black and white Axis from this 91 brochure: http://www.mtb-kataloge.de/Bikekataloge ... Back91.pdf My old MTB was literally falling apart, so I had to quickly find a new one at a reasonable price. On eBay I found 1 bike per week that I liked in...

    Diamond Back Axis

Nice to hear that the bike has a good reputation - even as far away as Australia! :) This was also my impression from the resarch I did before buying the bike. But what about the size - is it OK? The bike dealer who adjusted the gears, told me that 17" is the right size for someone who is...

    Diamond Back Axis

Here it is (funny black and white): http://www.ebay.de/itm/280931332282?ssP ... 1423.l2649 The green bike, DB Team, was the top model, as far as I know. It says TT bone or something like that on the stem (it is the part that connects the bike with the handle bars, I suppose). I am...

    Diamond Back Axis

Hi forum! This retro forum must be the right place for me. :) I just bought a Diamond Back Axis through eBay. I do not know if it is made 91, and I do not know much about bikes - although being Danish, I probably should. :) I just know that the bike feels great. It has not been used much...
