    WANTED: M4 barrel adjuster

Sure, thanks. I've had a tip from elsewhere that pre-78 Simplex Prestige shifters use the same size adjuster, so am currently waiting for one of those to arrive so I can check - fingers crossed! Seems that they are also commonly sought by Raleigh/Carlton owners for the rear brake bridge, which...

    WANTED: M4 barrel adjuster

Looking for an M4 barrel adjuster to fit a threaded cable stop on a 70's Jack Taylor, like the one pictured here, but I'm coming up blank - all available ones seem to be M5 or larger. Can anyone help or point me in the right direction?

Sutherlands Handbook for Bicycle Mechanics 3rd Edition

I paid £7.50 for a 3rd edition on eBay earlier this year. It does have a couple of missing pages though.

Eroica Britannia 2016 - anyone signed up?

Met Office are currently saying cloudy w/ 10% chance of rain, but that could easily change by tomorrow. Mid-week looks like heavy rain though, so some of the off-road sections may be a little more technical this year...

    Unknown 50's road/path build

The halfink finally turned up on Friday, so I was able to get it into a roadworthy state and give it a couple of shake-down rides over the weekend before unforseen problems arose.. Here's a couple of pics in yesterday's sun: I was out again today too, but this time found the drive-side...

    Unknown 50's road/path build

Re: Thanks :) And yep, I wanted something a little leaner than 27x1 1/4 - these come in at 27.5mm on the Dunlop rims. Most of the way there now after a little more work today.. brakes are Mafac Dural Forge, with some NOS replacement springs from ebay.fr and Koolstop salmon pads. & brake...

Wheels are going on next.. Bayliss Wiley HF on Dunlop Special Lightweights, 32/40. I didnt take any 'before' pics, but they were pretty grotty on arrival. The front cleaned up OK and the chrome is almost completely intact. A bit of elbow grease and some fresh bearings and it was good to go...

When you can't afford retro shoes...

Re: I've got a pair of the William Lennon Arturo shoes from nonowt's link. They've only seen light use, but they're comfortable and I've had no complaints. I haven't used any cleats with them.

Hehe :) Yeah, I'll be sure to take some pics of the finished product in daylight. CarHall indeed look like a good candidate if I go the shop decal-route, though I'm at at the other end of the country so might look for a more local equivalent. I would certainly consider a drilled stem & losing...

Nope, no engineering background - I think I came across the term soley in relation to headsets :) And also see that it's possibly incorrect (as was my spelling!) as Midlife hints.. Decals do pose a quandry - 'shop decals' are an option like you say, but I'm happy leaving it be for the time...

Thanks, I can't stop gazing at it :) and no, the only work was a retracked rear end and couple of filled dents. Now though, it's time to open up my shoebox full of parts.. The vision I've had for the bike is a late 50's/very early 60's style, my best guess as to the frame's era - a mix of...
