Cool. Ill be interested what you make of the stem, I was told they are very heavy and flex a lot.
I wanted to fit a compact chain set too but couldn't get a retro one, I don't ride it very often as i'm to busy with work and kids.

I have replaced the clamp with a stronger one, degreased the post and tube, and installed with fiber grip, hopefully that should hold it.

I had one of these, it was my first racing bike, I was 12 :).
Mine had 26" wheels, think its still lying in mum and dads shed, probably well rotted by now.

Hi, yeah, there is an aluminum shim inserted into the seat tube but its looks to be part of the frame as I cannot get it out. The original Mike Burrows post is 27.2. I also have a Giant SCR as a winter bike and it has a 30.9 seat tube with a plastic shim and I had issues with it...

Update,
Chainset, chain and cabling now done.
Just waiting on a different stem arriving so wont put the bar tape on unit that arrives.
but at lease shes now rideable

So another bit of work done today.
Bars and stem on, went with a NOS 3T bar I had and a NOS 3T Status stem.
The original adjustable stems where heavy and apparently flexed.
Also installed a non branded carbon seatpost as the Mike Burrows wont is just to big for me.
