Nice frame. Average components. STUPID f'ing price.

I remember tan-wall IRC Mythos tyres got bike testers excited in the late 90s, and this Trek's got two of them. Not sure how supple the rubber will be after 25 years of UV light though.

boy"O"boy MBUK/MBi Magazine and Catalogue Scan Archive.

Bravo and thanks for taking the time. I'll take FluffyChicken's advice some rainy day soon and add some scans of my own.

    Orange, potential little cracker?

"22 inch wheels", to be precise.

How long are alloy rims supposed to last for?

On 26" wheels, I've folded a rear 217 rim in 1500 miles when I rode somewhere sandy but my current 517s have lasted 5000 miles and look basically new, because there's no sand here. I agree with 2manyoranges - the fault may be in (barely visible) embedded grit in brake pads.Maybe we should all...

Re: 19" Frame I'll pop it out of the garage tomorrow lunchtime and let you see it in the afternoon!

    19" Frame - Now Sorted......

Re: 19" Frame If ishaw's frame isn't right for you, I've got a 2007-ish Kona Kula in good condition, resprayed white in 2010, wearing the wrong decals. It's 19", disc only, 26" wheel, and I'd be hoping for £80. Can leave nice smooth matching white FSA headset on or take off. Currently...

Anyone still rocking a McMahon Shaka Zulu Air Fork?

Never seen one of those before. Looks plenty stiff enough. If you're putting those brakes on that fork, have you got a plan for rigging up a cable stop on the fork brace?

26 ain't dead - but darned difficult to get intensive care

Possibly we could make a thread/database that details compatibility options from people who have tried jamming 27.5 wheels in 26"-specific frames ... ie which tyres work in which frames (and old forks) at this size. I wonder if the future for 26"-specific frames might be 27.5 wheels wrapped in...

Cable groove in the body of the rear derailleur

A photo would help but I think what you're looking at has really got to be a deliberately-made cable guide groove rather than something accidental that's been worn away over time. The cable would have to saw back and forth many hundreds of times to wear a groove in smooth aluminium and I can't...

    WTF?!?!

My favourite detail is the two front derailleurs.

SOLD 97 Klein Pulse Frame + colour matched Cannondale P-Bone

Re: 97 Klein Pulse Frame + colour matched Cannondale P-Bone Fork If the world were a fair and just place, this would fly off the shelves for £150. Ride it fast enough and no-one will have time to spot it's not a *real* Attitude. Good luck with the sale!

Wanted - Merlin Cycles adverts late 90s

Here is a double page advert from Mountain Bike World, issue 1, Spring 1997: I might have something a couple of years earlier too. These are only small jpgs but the original scans are 2Mb if you want to be able to read the text; I got an error message when trying to upload one of them to this...

    Oh dear..

I was hoping somebody would come on here and say "That's an £300 fix." Take to a ti specialist, get them to cut off the headtube, rejig and re-weld. Good value for a Merlin with a scar and a Pace fork £685 all in... what am I overlooking?

Gaining a lite more reach without using a longer stem.

Bar ends are your friends. Just not very trendy friends.

    Merlin Oreas

My favourite bit is the cable loop on the front derailleur. I'm going to start copying that! But the whole thing is a work of art - as is the photography.
