    1993 Trek 8300 build

It is an option but I don't have one, and this model came with Suntour's top-pull Expert FD so there isn't the hole in the frame at the bottom to add the bit where the cable comes back on itself. If I can't get a top-pull FD then I might explore this further though.

Wanted Suntour FD 35mm Top Pull XC Pro / Comp MD

As per title - having been sent (incorrectly) a bottom-pull NOS XC Comp derailleur from the USA, I am now after the correct Top-Pull Suntour XC Comp or Pro Micro Drive front derailleur with a 35mm band

    1993 Trek 8300 build

Oh the irony... I went to fit the front mech today, getting as far as clamping it on and running the cable, only to realise that I've been had. It's a bottom pull mech. I had someone bring it for me from the USA as the seller didn't post to the UK and I stashed it away and forgot about it ages...

    1993 Trek 8300 build

Thanks @Once A Hero Fortunately the 8300 had a top swing front derailleur and it's routed conventionally (see pic) .. although you did make me so panic slightly, and I had to do a double-take and check for myself!

    1993 Trek 8300 build

I mounted the seat to a Trek System 2 seatpost that I polished. I've also fitted the BB, polished and fitted the Suntour XC Expert crankset and added the XC Pro GG pedals, Tioga Alchemy Headset, Pace RC35 Forks, and System 2 Bar and Stem. I modified the 8 speed Suntour MD cassette by removing...

    1993 Trek 8300 build

Finally got around to moving forward a bit with my build. I sourced a Selle Italia Flight saddle, date stamped '93, so perfect for my 1993 bike. I restored it using the London Leather Company products and I'm pretty pleased with the results. (I've since done a resto on a pair of trainers and...

Sold Suntour XC Pro MD nearly complete groupset NOS

Beautiful group. In the unlikely event that you split, I would be interested in the rear derailleur. Thanks

    Suntour MD help needed please!

@PanoIgano Sure, no problem. I have the wheel and cassette together and all the bits are there, but I'm in the process of refurbing the derailleur a bit and finishing polishing one of the crank arms. As soon as I get some free time, I'll be back on the case!

Pace RC35..2 Questions , help please!

@clubby Thank you! It makes sense now. When I had my forks serviced by @justbackdated he was kind enough to send them back with the brass fixings that I will need to use to do this but I hadn't put 2&2 together. Sigh of relief knowing that this will work👌

Pace RC35..2 Questions , help please!

Can someone please tell me whether the brake bosses on these Pace forks can be turned to the front or whether on this model they're fixed to be rear facing? (The only way I see them being able to be put to face forward is if the round metal parts are bolt covers - I had a little try at pulling...

    Suntour Chainline and chain question

Thanks @Tootyred. My LBS stocks SRAM chains, so I'll go for that. If no harm is done by adding copper slip, then I will give it a go👌
