Can you not take sticker off then give a little spray of clear coat or is that a bad idea asking for future reference if I come across it

I've sent a pm to see if he's got any info. During a previous chat he gave the impression that he didn't know when it was done, so chances are he won't know who it was done by. Worth asking though.

It could be done, but it would need to be done right, with an area properly masked off, getting the new clearcoat to perfectly match the original might be tricky. A lot of work and not without risks, especially for an inexperienced painter like me.

853 decals on Hot are actually on top of the lacquer too which is slightly frustrating for you

I assume the painter was given an image of a Hot to copy but was told to change it to Kilauea. Without Kona knowledge likely didn’t think much about 853

Actually that makes perfect sense, although the cromoly one is still a head scratcher.

I wonder if that's what led to the sale.

If it were my project I'd never be able to live with those errors. We must be talking about £300+ for a paintjob like that, with the fade and all the masking involved, even if that didn't include bb shell threads
