Raleigh Road Ace Frame and forks

Interesting frame. 1984 model, so serial should be late '83 or early to mid-'84. Dropouts were Gipiemme. Built to be equipped with Shimano AX, hence the over-the-BB cable routing.

Nice! 👍
non-fixie, any idea why there is a cable guide at the rear?
I guess a check over of the frame when I pick it up and report in

Motorbikes - Aye, in my blood so to speak, always had one; even when I was a youngster.
Brought home from hospital in Velocette combo, Dad and Mam took me to MX scrambles when I was in my cot.
Ran my own business fixing and recommissioning old clunkers.
It is now my hobby again.
My main bikes are Hinkley Triumph T300's, I have a 1994 900 Speed triple, 1993 900 Trident sprint, a 1200 special built from a frame up - my daily, I know these bikes like the back of my hand.
Also have a 1965 Royal Enfield 750 Interceptor, 1978 Yamaha V75, 1979 Gilera TG1 125, 1955 Francis Barnett 225 1H, 1995 Kawasaki ZZR600, 1991 Suzuki GSXR1100 M - Streefighter.
Also a project Range Rover P38 Prototype, 14th built.
Where do I have the time?

That cable guide on top of the chainstay is correct for an ax rear mech and the frame looks exactly like my 84 600ax model

Transfers are available on ebay, nice examples are hard to find, saddles, hbars, bar end caps, bottle and cage will be tricky to source but main gset and wheels are easy enough.

Hi All, I have picked the frame up, its better than expected to be honest.
Obviously the incorrect chain set.
Correct headrace steering
Frame number - is it a 1984?

Sjl, thank you for that, my research found some or most of the rear frames had no cable guide for the rear mech

Back to what this thread is about - not sure why I put the Peugeot in, I will post this else where.
More pics, a bit more details of the rust stains etc

Headset looks original, still moving with a little play

Is it correct these cable guide were on the high SBDU team bikes and replicas?

Some pics of parts of the bike that have had a quick clean up.
Small brass wire wheel has improved the rear drop outs.
Thread for the rear mech is sound.
Wheel stop screw freed off, I need another for the other side, a bit of Croil for half hour sorted the snapped screw.
I do have an almost complete grey 105 group set, a bit too modern yeah
