Bike shop auction in Lincolnshire

I could spend a day at least rooting through that lot. There's undoubtedly gold in them thar hills, but it'll take some finding.

Had a quick peek online to see if there were any bargains - so far I would say no! When you consider the hammer prices will be subject to at least another 20% and if online I think it’s 25 or 29% that’s really strong money. I’m sure there’s good value in there for someone with a shop or repair business, couple with current availability issues and it makes sense that it’s going for so much.

The bradbury frame stand is nice in lot 110......couple of vintage cranks on the wall behind, assume there'd be a few mixed vintage spares in all those boxes, but probably properly vintage (like the Tiumph, Curzon & Robin Hood 30's/40's? bikes), then all looks more modern, low rent stuff and doesn't seem like theres a lot there from 70's,80's 90's...but maybe theres things tucked away.

TBH, its a messy auction...a ton of the lots are a weird mix of stuff, looks like its being done in a rush...which is a shame.

Also hard to believe the rock hopper was worth £70+fees judging by what stuff seems to go for on here and ebay

Certainly a surprise how much things made. I dropped in to the online bidding a few times and didn’t even get as far as placing a bid so high were the prices.

Usually bike stuff doesn’t make loads at general auctions as the people there aren’t interested in it. It was specialist and lots of if so probably attracted a different crowd.

With the current availability of new stock of some of the stuff in the sale - tyres/tubes/chains/spares etc it would make sense if another independent bike shop had bought much of it. While the prices seemed high once you drill down in to the retail of some of the job lot new items could still be decent profit if you’re in that business.

It’s not unheard of for relatives to buy stuff at auction for sentimentality which they didn’t have access to for whatever reason from the estate of the person who has passed. Could apply to the bike stand but maybe not the bog roll!

My local auction sometimes sells much worse than bog roll from deceased estate sales - I’ve seen boxes of vintage “reading material”, mixed lots of used “massage devices” as well as part packs of incontinence pads, half bottles of spirits etc. How they are allowed to I’ve no idea, but there’s always someone who sticks their hand up when it’s down to a quid.
