Sold Klein Adroit Gator 1992 MC1 complete frameset size 19"

Can someone please explain to me what I am missing in regards to the prices of these?

I am literally a few minutes away from buying all these Kleins off the market, respraying them in a fvck ugly flip paint with decals and putting them all up for astronomical amounts.

Am I being dumb or can these same frame not be picked up for a relatively respectable price but just because of the paintwork its adding 15 times its true value to them?
You'll need money to do that.

Picking up a genuine, undamaged MC1 Adroit or Attitude fuselage is not a cheap or easy thing to do. Getting it painted GF, HLF or whatever your pleasure by a pro like JR or Etoe.. also anything but cheap.

If you have a source of early Klein fuselages and a competent, expert painter (who’ll do the work for a couple of hundred quid), by all means go for it.

Oh.. and those aren’t decals. It’s debossed paint.

I'm reading some quite disturbing stories on this sale via Facebook.
Seller will only accept bank transfer or PayPal payment friends and family with no protection for buyer.

Its been reported that buyer paid deposit to sellers "friends" account via PayPal goods and service but was then refunded.
Somehow I missed this post.
Completely refusing a "goods" payment is suspicious at least. If that story is true, personally I'd avoid this one like the plague.

@ everyone : A couple of things to keep in mind :

Asking for PayPal "friends and family" when selling bikes/parts is quite simply a violation of PayPal's User Agreement.

Receiving payments

If you use your PayPal account to receive payments for the sale of goods or services or to receive donations, you must:
  • Pay any applicable fees for receiving the funds.
  • Not ask your buyer to send you money using the “send money to a friend or family member.” If you do so, PayPal may remove your PayPal account’s ability to accept payments from friends or family members.
If a seller (even a Gold Trader) doesn't want to accept a "goods or services" payment, that should really set off some alarm bells. Please don't go through with such transactions, just tell the seller to get lost.

With "friends and family" you have no buyer protection. That's not a risk you want to take when making a 4-digit payment to some unknown foreign seller who only joined to make a quick buck.

As a last point, I'm going to repeat what I said in the Ringlé topic :
I'd like to remind people that any purchases and sales you make on the forum are at your own peril. The staff and mod team can not undo transactions. The best we can do is negotiate and/or remove bad traders from the forum after problems occur.

Well done all. Keep up the good work keeping all our eyes open. Seems like the number of scams happening is rising fast.

My heart goes out to whoever has pockets deep enough to take that risk.

Hopefully staring at a very expensive bike on your wall because you're too afraid to take it outside and ride it soothes all the pain!

The jealousy is literally oozing from your pores.

Let‘s hope so for everyone involved. We’ll probably find out soon when the fuselage has arrived at the buyer. Everything until then is speculation. And to add to that, here’s mine: The frame never sold and in a few months it surfaces on a closed facebook grouP.
