Not been in Blairadam since the summer when it was dry-ish, just checked, naw it wisnae dry in June the last time I was in there. It was drier in Jan/Feb. Clubby is correct, it doesn't handle rain very well. In fact it's usually a mudfest most of the time, like now, at least according to how Kenny has described it on Strava when he's been in there recently, sometimes 2 or 3 times a week. Don't think he needs lights now when he goes in there for a night ride.
Blairadam when it's dry is good, loads of trails, lots of variations as well so easy to get disorientated, it takes a bit of learning the trails to take to link them up for a ride.
I'm probably not available on Boxing Day, visiting folk so I've been told......
The weather up here on Thursday is supposed to be rain most of day but could change, oops just read your post again, it's Friday you are looking to ride is it? If so I've nowt on but Blairmudam wouldn't be my prefered option. Not been out much recently myself because I've been suffering from a bad case of "cannae be arsedness" mood about riding in this pishy dreich weather the now, last time was 3 weeks ago up Benarty just across road from ma hoose. It's an awright ride most of the time. It was frozen solid but when it's wet it doesn't suffer the extreme mudfest symptoms of Kelty Wids. Slowness wouldn't be a problem for me, not exactly inclined to exert myself too much nowadays, more relaxed like "I'm drinking wine, eating cheese, catching rays, you know."
I'll PM you a link to my Strava profile then you can follow me and see the trails round here, that's if you do Strava...
