I've got a set of 1998 Rock Shox Judy SL's fitted with red type 3 springs, anyone know what rider weight these are for? I'm guessing they are hard springs for >190lb :?

which of course doesn't mention colours, but in TypeII systems Read = soft and <140lb riders.

I have the 1998 service manual and no colours mentioned in there, though it does give you the lengths of the springs
63/80mm setup
Primary = 67mm (knackered at 65mm)
Secondary = 92mm (knackered are 90mm)

63/80 X-Soft = Silver
100mm Soft = Yellow or Silver :roll:

Just notice you mention Original spring with the forks.
Therefore

STANDARD EQUIPMENT (SUPPLIED WITH JUDY)
63mm travel standard equipment (XC & SL)
(2) medium primary springs
(2) medium secondary springs

80mm travel standard equipment (XC,SL & XL/XLC)
(2) medium primary springs
(2) soft secondary springs

100mm travel standard equipment (XL/XLC)
(2) medium primary springs
(2) medium secondary springs

Might be of interest.

And Medium(left leg) Medium(right leg) - 170 to 190 lb

I also have the Owners manual which doesn't mention colour. Although they are the original springs I don't think they are mediums as they are from a 20" zaskar so I think they are firm (and they feel firm), but I was hoping someone knew which colour was which.

Why does 20" mean they would be firm though

:?

I ride a 20" frame and I'm unfit and still less than 160lb

When I was fit and rode all the time I was around 140lb.

I've been looking but still nothing has come up.

Probably a touch late, but at least it's here for reference.

Type 2
Spring Rate Adjusters
Soft = Beige
Medium = Black
Hard = Grey

Springs
Soft = Red
Medium = Yellow
Firm = Green
Extra Firm = Purple

Type 3
Primary (top) and Secondary (bottom) spring colours
63/80mm
Xtra Soft = silver
Soft = Yellow
Medium = Red
Firm = Black

So Type 3, red-red both sides (i.e assuming all 4 are red) would be medium-medium giving the range 170lb to 190lb under normal riding.
