Bodgers way to remove stuck seatpost

Went up to the shed this morning to do a bit of tidying, that didn't happen  I was in one of those moods where I thought 'i'll just do this first' 'and this' and this' which brought me to a MF adventurer with a very stuck post, no vice handy, so find my biggest bodgers wrench and the most handy tool in the shed, a gurt lump of wood, put said wrench on top of post (where you would put it in a vice) and give the wrench a couple of good wacks, one way then the other, repeat untill loose enough to pull out. easy peasy lemon queezy 8)

I find the easiest way (after a good soak with Aerokroil) is to clamp the seatpost in a vice and twist the frame.

sounds similar to a BB removal technique i've come across on here....

Not by any means a guaranteed fix for all stuck posts, Infact if it came out that easly I wouldn't even call it stuck!

No, no guarantees, but it was quite well stuck, I was given that frame because the former owner couldn't get the post out, all I was really saying is, if you haven't got a vice handy, give it a good wack and you never know :)

Well I trid saving a GT rave by clamping the seat post in a vice and twisting the frame. I could only twist the frame by about 45 degrees and no matter how many times I twisted it back and forth it would not release. I got the post warm though. Some are just too stuck to be freed.

Yours luckly was not that stuck. Good work.

lucky your seatpost wasnt really stuck

its stuck when you snap the exposed bit clean off, or you bend frame / seatpost / shed when you and your mates have it clamped in a vice and are hanging off the bike.

thats only good if the seat clamp part didnt come loose like my what happened to my stuck post, end up drilling it out.
