Anyone ever seen this before?

I received these Manitou 2 forks with a frameset and was surprised to see the contraption on the top of the legs. The top caps have a little bung with about 4" of rubber tubing attached. No elastomers and no air chambers in the legs. Any guesses as to what it could be?

Looks like a DIY coil/oil mod - I've def. read about this being done on older Manitous - try asking over on MTBR VRC.

If I ever saw someone riding a Crosstrac i'd remove my rear skewer & shank them for the bike.

Can you hook it up to the rear shock as well and have a Citroen-style self-levelling system?

The Crosstrack has true balancers. That was a trick for air forks on MX bikes BITD. The ones on the Manitous mfh got are pressure vents.
