A bit of fun - guess the Shimano Crank....

Ok, I've just got into this retrobike thing and have been practicing my paint and anodising stripping and polishing.
This has been a set of practice cranks I have stripped and polished. Not polished very well, there are dings and light scratches and a bit of mottling but they look a million times better than when I got them.

I am going to sell them - this isn't a "how much are these worth" question as I've already decided how much to sell them for (and if I don't get that money I'll keep them).

So I challenge you to guess correctly which shimano cranks these are and what year they were made. The only clue is that they are 170mm. ;-)

Only 1 guess allowed per person and I'll let you know who was correct.

So fire away....!

Exage Trail???

Polishing cranks makes a hell of a difference I think, even a few minutes can do wonders!!!

Like your avatar. Plus that table has a lovely polish to it as good as the cranks

It's the soon-to-be-replaced kitchen counter, installed in the 80's to be honest.
Polishing job isnt as good as I want it to be but I want to try out the techniques before I buy a polishing mop for my bench grinder.

Hmmm. Seems like there is no consensus.
Mwahahaha!!! :-D

One person is close.

Its a 110bcd crank if that helps at all. :-)

It's not M900 as it's not super low profile ;)

It's not XT of this era as it doesn't have Shimano ground in to it and DX looks similar but without the Shimano ground in.
They look much prettier and have a better definition, that and the spider is set back.

BCD looks to be 110

Looks too rounded to be Deore LX as well.

My instant guess was 500LX, but is could also be 400LX/300LX as I'm sure they all shared the same crank arms. xxxLX and name depending on year more than likely).
