Hi all, just joined.
Managed to buy, by accident, what I believe is a 93/94 GT Zaskar for an absolute steal from the Police auctions. Thanks to your great site I believe it's genuine (unless anyone cares to shatter my dreams).
It was advertised as 'GT All Terra' - Frame condition poor. For spares. Accompanied with a grainy mobile photo which only confirmed a triple triangle frame (possibly ally) so I took a punt and luckily there was not much interest in it (thanks Officer for putting everyone off !).

A bit sad but just about working
After 2 weeks of stripping/cleaning I have a very shiny (albeit a bit scratched) hand-welded frame. 6061 on drop-out. frame no 0893**** and the essential flat GT cap at end of top tube. Stickers tell me it's 94 model Zaskar (made Aug 93), I reckon with the combo of frame style and age it's got to be a 94 Zaskar as the frame with the triangular wedge between the tubes was only used on Zs that period.
Starting to come together
The important bit
It's a bit ratty component-wise (it's got RSTs on the front !) but will probably throw some spares on it just to get it running and then strip it down for a slow rebuild over the winter (with a decent original-ish spec). Not really spent any money on it yet (apart from a cheap chain and some cables to get it working).
Currently have a GT Outpost Trail (faithful servant for 12 years), other bikes have come and gone but this one is my fave. The Zaskar was always the dream bike I could never afford so one happy bunny.

PS I give up site doesnt seem to like Flickr pix.
