Clockwork Orange - ebay UK

looked at it but wrong size(17 inch for me)-i have a 10th anniversary clockwork but interested in an early one-as i am new to retrobike no idea whether the starting bid figure is high or not-really i only want a frame when i get round to looking for one as i have a lot of old parts

Bugger it, I've been waiting for a tidy original '93 orange/white fade to come up and what happens when one does????? Chap starts it at £300!!

Over priced imo.

clockwork

Agree. I paid £150 for an almost-nos 93/4 Clockwork 18 months ago. I accept I might have been lucky and I picked it up from another member here, but a £300 start feels a bit rich to me.

This ones earlier than 93, has a bottom pull front mech, 89-91 i recon.

FWIW i think it's a bit overpriced but not massively so, mostly XT kit, thumbies alone can go for £40, be nicer for £250 though.

I was thinking late '92, early '93 as the decals are from the '93 range. '90's have Orange on the top tube, Clockwork (in different font) on the down tube. Also, the geometry looks more like a later one as my 1990 has a shorter head tube and slacker angles. My '92 frame has the same cable routing as this one although all the cables run along the top on my mid '93 frame. 8)

Picked up my 1990 last year for about £200 on ebay and that came with similar kit and RC35's. Saying that I'd probably go up to £250 for this one but to start it at £300 seems optimistic.

I need to stop being so anal about Clockworks and get out more.

I would agree that a £300 start is a bit high BUT it does have a few nice bits on it (flight ti, X Lite 535s etc) and it is complete and in reasonably good nick.

As I've found to my cost something that looks 'cheap' and only needs a 'bit of work' (new decals, paintjob and period gears/brakes/wheels/tyres) usually ends up costing a lot more!!!!!!

ok, don't rub it in :(

I've spent over £200 building a 19" clockwork with worn out rubbish parts.

how I wished I'd kept the damn thing

I think it's more like 92 than 93, although the pictures aren't good enough to tell for certain. It can't be earlier because it has the seat stay / seat tube junction higher than 91 and earlier and it doesn't have the triangular cut outs in the rear dropouts.

I would value it around £150-200, although in an auction situation if more than one bidder wants it for £200, it can easily go higher. But first he has to get an auction going.

this conversation is so interesting that i am seriously tempted even tho i only really want an early clokcwork frame and forks and even tho it is overpriced
fortunately it is my job to resist temptation-tho it is more likely the firm knowledge i am definately a 17inch rider that is stopping me
