This little fellow landed on my lap the other day, its a 1988 Breezer American, I knew it would be a bit on the flakey side and it didn't disappoint! Theres a helicoil repair on the gear hanger a few dinks and doinks and a little crack at the base of the compression slot on the seat tube. Trying to weigh up if its worth getting it prettified and repaired or building it as a "character rich" hack/wreck. Anyway I figured it might make somebody out there glow a little.

Re:

I like that, quite Manitou-esque, check out those welds! Rather industrial looking.
I like the gusset on the downtube too. Some nice details on this frame.

Re:

That's ace! Defintely worth a sympathetic rebuild and bit of repairing in my opinion. There's another one on here should you require some inspiration, owned by ridevintagemtb I think.

Those welds are super sweet, from overseeing some aluminium welding recently I now realise how difficult it is to make the welds look so even and uniform. Whatever you do don't smooth them down though - somebody on here did the same thing with an American stem, didn't go down too well with the illuminati, did that...

Lots of cool aluminum bikes getting restored these days. This one is very cool. I see many similarities with it and my Cameron. Another guy said it, but I'll repeat it ... the aluminum 80s bikes sure look advanced.

Looking forward to updates.

Re:

I have a soft spot for 80's aluminium frames too. I've been looking for an old breezer for aeons, I figure this would be the only one that I could ever afford unless a lucky fluke lands on my lap.
I've a 6 speed xt group that was destined for my mountain klein which may end up here instead. Theres a Koski fork to go up front which has a gummed up thread on one brake boss, I was thinking about getting the mounts whipped off and replaced with a set of roller cam bosses to increase the bikes aged sparkle, if the shit taps out of the boss then they may stay put.

Re:

Hoping that this won't be too small. 80's bikes always look big until you stick a set of wheels in :?
