1998 Peugeot Festina - Team Replica

I thought I would start a new thread on the rebuild of my 1998 / 99 Peugeot Festina Team Replica.

I think this is quite a rare bike as it is so closely associated with the infamous 1998 Tour De France and whole Festina Affair.

Anyway, back in August 1999, I was 20, I just bend my 1973 Roberts and needed a bike quick to commute to work, but also a little light racing. So I went into Elmy's in Ipswich and came out with a brand new shiny Peugeot. I paid the princely sum of £540 for it!

This is still the only road bike I have bought 'off the peg' but lasted me almost 10 years, as my main bike, then my winter bike and then finally for bits on another bike! Anyway the frame was put away and came out last year.

I guess it / i am still lucky that it exists, as Peugeot broke alot of this up and scraped the frames, due to lack of sales!

Probably the worst area for paint damage on the bottom bracket shell.

The bike has since been rebuild and serves as a turbo mule, but also gets out on occasions. I will post some more photos of the finished build.

Re:

And these are of the current turbo mule spec.

The only original parts left, other than the frame, are the seat post and brake calipers. The original 9 speed mirage that was on it originally is long gone.

hi im looking for some history on my Peugeot Teamline 5000,
its circa 1996 in yellow and blue Peugeot colours with a full Dura Ace group set.
i haven't used it for 12 years and then only lightly, i wonder if you know of anyone who might be interested or know anything about it.
i believe it was a copy of a TDF team bike?
cheers
NeilH

i still cant find any history on this bike,
i think it may have been used in TDF 1996 by Richard Virenque?
any thoughts...
