1992 DAVE HINDE CUSTOM BUILT FRAME

wil

Retro Newbie
At long last its time to part with my dream bike when I was 15. This bike has had 2 or 3 guises over the years although essentially is ......

18" frame
23" toptube
13" high b/b
43" wheel base
Seamlessly hand built/fillet brazed by Dave Hinde, Northwich.

Mixture of Reynolds 653 and Columbus Max/Nivacrom and some other tubes I can't remember anymore. Cost me £480 at the time.

£150.00

There are some hairline cracks to rear of seat cluster which seem to have held for a long while and haven't really affected it at all over the years. I sold this current frame set about to a mate about fifteen years ago and subsequently bought it back as I had intended to restore it to its former glory. He rode it around Manchester for quite a while and judging by the dirt on it took it off road quite a lot. I love this bike but needs will must and perhaps it is time for it to pass to someone else to enjoy, who will spend the time and care it needs.

Originally metallic electric blue and chrome plate (front triangle/rear triangle, forks (653 Magnum) with cantilever lugs mounted inboard for reduced flex, bars and custom stem - alas I bent the forks and time took the other parts .... Magura Hydrostop f&R, XT thumbies, XTR rear mech, XT front mech, Campag Record OR cluster, chainset, hubs, Rollhoff chain, Mavic 231's and DT Swiss butted spokes, Panaracer Smoke/Dart tyres, Simplex needle bearing headset......24 lbs built, eventually got this down to 23 1/2 lbs.with no especially trick parts added.

A real head turner at the time.

Rode like a dream, light, supple and strong, all and any effort just seemed to make it move forwards faster. Its relatively long length at the time made it very stable over the rough and exceptional at climbing allowing the rider to adopt a comfortable forward position, keeping the front wheel on the ground but retain decent traction.

Managed to bend the forks jumping and dented the top tube which subsequently cracked and was replaced by Dave Hinde. This is when the pink/turquoise enamel was done. The cracks appeared sometime after probably due to the repair but the bracing on the seat stays keeps everything where it should be.

Still have XT thumbies, bottom pull rear mech, Pace RC30's, Ringlé Zooka stem and Aheadset also for sale......

I have to say that is the best first-post-for-sale-thread ever posted and maybe should be used as a "good example" in the rules!

Would love to see some pictures of this maybe even a price for the lot....

Great frames these. I live a not far from Dave Hinde cycles and we have a joke locally that his middle name is Ben.... Dave B Hinde

.... I'm a Northwich lad myself. I was Hartford High when this was built, rode it around Delamere a lot .........

RE condition, most of the marks are dirt although, there are a few chips here and there and the chrome is pitted on the backside of the forks and, yes they are for sale
