hi all.

i picked up this gt today.although all my nerves were screaming "leave it, you dont need it!" i could'nt help myself and,..the van increased its load.

im not really up on gt bikes and can only guess-timate early nineties due to decals and some components.bb's shell info..something 3m5 971394020.

in short it has/had LX550,alivio,stx,dx 650,bb was later found to be shimano un50. i like it! the frame is very light for steel and i should get it road/trail ready on low cash.the only thing is i dont want to shove anything on.id rather do a majority restoration and a little component compromise where necessary.but what ought to be the period spec for the 'bravado le?'

tell me more. thanks.

Very nice find. It's a 1993 Bravado LE with a Tru-Temper GTX tubeset. Would've originally been specced with full XT and was the top of the GT steel range.
I had a 1992 version BITD. Great bike.

It's the other way around. The 1994 was in Cobalt Blue, 1993 was definitely in Team Scream.
GT catalogues are in the archive.

the 93 cat i got in front of me says cobalt blue
team scream was 1995 as stated in the carrati brochure for 95

however the bravado is not in the uk line up for 95
but the tequesta is in team scream scheme

are we officially anoaraks yet

Looks like a good project to me... :)

By far and away my favourite paint scheme GT ever put on their frames 8) 8) 8) just to match the sweeeet clothing of the time too.

Yes.

I had my 92 Bravado modified to replace the U-brake pivots with canti ones.
At the same time I wanted to get the frame re-sprayed in Team Scream.
I'm pretty sure that this was in 1993 and I got the replacement decals too.
It could have been late 1993 though and hence the idea may have come from a 1994 catalogue.
Anyway the paint-shop couldn't replicate the splatter effect and I ended up with a straight split between the yellow and blue.
There are some pictures here.

Anyway this is bit of a tangent which doesn't really hide the fact that I am a bike anorak.

" I am a bike anorak"

and a better man for it no doubt

nice post ,bet you regret selling that one ,i would
i got a karakoram a few weeks ago like one i had bitd
its in pickles post about his karakoram
the bravado is next rung up the ladder
