Yeti ProFRO Disc retrofit project (building)

Interesting project - for what its worth I'd go for it with the discs, just make sure it's done by someone what knows their stuff - the bike deserves that!

Some of the newer bikes are placing the disc mount between the seat and chain stay - personally I like this and it could work well with the looped stay on the FRO.

Are you removing he cable guide/canti bosses too?

Hi Thanks for the support!

The operation is going to be performed by class A bikesmith Truls Johnsen here in Norway http://www.johnsenframeworks.com/

Nice! Are you going to use 'slaglodding' to fix the disc mounts to the frame! (That is my new favourite word and my first bit of Norwegian!) I also like the word 'muff' for 'lugs', you can never ride enough muff...

Looks like a master - what a workshop!

There is nothing wrong with a beer before the 'op'.

Look forward to the results..... :D

Nothing wrong with bringing a classic frame up to date by adding disc brakes... as long as its done well, and sympathetically.

Better that than some of the "throw every anodised bit of CNC'd' tat that I can find at it" builds that appear on here only too often.

Spot On

I am sorry to say that I just cant stand those christmastree Botulinum toxinated rigs.

The disc calipper mounts are going to be welded inline with the rest of the frame. I am even going to cut off the left original dropout and make a discdropout like the new alu ARCs. For the fork its going to look like the Accu-Trax ProStop disc version.

The end result will be like "as if FTW did this right the first time" (bold Yes!)

its your to do with as you will...

a moment of silence for this poor bike is in order though

(nice anvil fixture in that fellas workshop)

Well we have had some great rides together, and I thought that it was time for a tuneup. Its like after 20 years of marriage you buy new tittys for your wife just to lighten up the relationship...
