sharing my own experience: the rear mech shifter will possibly work fine, but a race bike front mech pulls another string lenght than a mtb front mech. tried it with exactly these shifters and ultegra 9speed parts. therefore shimano sells fitnessbike conversion shifter sets like sl-r440. that ended up being my solution then. anyhow, the 751 shifters do have a very fair price.
