I have Cable Modem from Virgin Media & connect via ethernet to my Macbook. About time I went wireless. Now, seems I have 2 choices? Buy a router & connect the modem to the router via Ethernet, giving me 2x Units. Or can call Virgin & ask to upgrade the Modem to an all in one Modem/Router. However, My Aiport WI-FI in my MacBook isn't the N Model, so looks like I need a USB N Adaptor http://shop.virginmedia.com/broadband/b ... uters.html to make that work. If I went with a cheapish Router & plugged into the Modem, doesn't look like I get the capability of the N Router as only have b/g Wireless built in due to the Mac being a 2006 Model. I was looking at this router http://www.tp-link.com/en/products/deta ... 1043ND#fea

Am I right? Never got into Network stuff at work. Always had guys come in & set it up...

Bit og Googling later & seems I can replace the 'g' card for an 'n' card in the laptop. Then can get a 'N' Router...otherwise obviously I'm only connecting via the slower 'g' Wi-Fi

General Surfing...Never do any on line gaming. Watch IPlayer occasionally, but that's as heavy as it will get.
