chainset definitely more likely to be original to the frame than the XTR imo.

Any frame number? Might give some clues (or not).
Pretty sure it a generic frame knocked out en masse, badged up by local shops.

Without wishing to correct/contradict you on the PLUSH sticker, it's not the sort of sticker that I'd imagine anyone adding.

It looks to be individual letters and placed somewhere pretty inaccessible. To my (untrained) eye, it looks professionally done.

Yeah I'm kinda with you on that now....the letters aren't individual but the placement's good and the decal colour fits the frame finish well

I would have though that the triangular section top and down tubes would give some clues.

It looks to have a real mix of components on it, I wonder if any of it is original. The forks look too long for the frame as well, what are they 120mm travel? 80mm would probably fit better.
