Whenever you decide to buy and take some risk, always use Paypal (but not the gift option). It gives you a reasonable amount of protection if you document the sale properly. So agree with the buyer exactly what he is going to sell (make, model, serial number, colour, state, name of parts, etc.) and communicate all this through direct email (not through craigslist or other mail relay service).
