Vintage Russell Road bike Help pls

Matt-k

GT Fan
So I fancy this Russell for myself as a project, nice fancy Reynolds 531 tubing. The guys open to offers, I said £100 and he laughed. What's she worth? Campy shifters & rear hub, I think the mechs replacements and it would of originally had campagnolo? Stronglight cranks, SR-SP100 pedals, any help or ideas on the year appreciated as I only know my vintage MTBs not road bikes.
Thanks, Matt

If he laughed at £100 then he needs to give you an indication of what he wants. I wouldn’t have thought you are that far off given the mix of parts. Sure you could get more than £100 if you split it up for sale but as a package he needs to give you an idea of his expectations.

Assuming it’s a fairly normal 531 frame, not sure which Russell is responsible for it, I struggle to see more than £150 maximum value in it. If there’s some provenance that there is significant value in the frame it’s self that could be different. While it’s perfectly nice it doesn’t have anything that stands out. Components as Once A Hero says could strip and get more than that. I usually assume toe straps for example are throw away almost but those are Alfredo Binda so someone must have loved it a bit!
