V Brake bosses VS arms

Hello,

I’m building an 90s specialized frame and I got some Avid SD7 v brakes but it seems that the bosses are too long or that the brake arms have a narrow end. So even when it is screwed it still has play. I that something common? I’d like to avoid cutting the bosses

Seems about normal

Your brake has its own pivot so it doesn't rely on the brake boss, if possible, you can undo the boss and bolt the brake direct to the frame

But I wouldn't bother or worry about it

I'd find a appropriately-sized washer and file an edge to accommodate the spring pin (or whatever it's called - that bit of the spring that seats into the frame) if it's needed.

Brake arms don't seat at the base of the post, it's at the step slightly above that. On that frame it's where it transitions from red paint to bare metal.
