Well just to put a twist on it, my bar ends (wrong or not they're staying as they're functional) are inboard of the shifters and brake levers like little tri-bars. I'll have to take a pic to show you better.

Well the only bike I've ever owned that broke was a Kona (much beloved on this site) that had multiple pivots!

Sorry i'm a bit slow on the sarcasm front! I remember seeing ads for that Jamis in american magazines - they weren't marketed in Australia so have never seen one in the flesh. Very nice indeed!
