TNT hub gone same way as Ringle or Nuke proof

Re:

Mike, exactly the same happened to me a few months ago with a TNT rear! It'd just been sitting in the bedroom, and a big chunk's broken off like yours. The wheels did seem a bit over-tensioned and I'd assumed that was the cause, but maybe TNT are particularly crap. The front (Hershey Ti) is ok.

I was thinking of getting another flange machined and bonded on... :|

Machines billet rather than forged and machined?

One of my Hope rear hubs has gone the same way if it helps...
Yeah just machined with stress raisers aplenty..
Also, although 7075 alum' is meant to be stronger I reckon it's quite brittle in this application. I've not had or heard of problems with White Industries 'softer', unanodized 6061 hubs...

My personal hall of shame:

Magura, Hope, Ringle

But Shimano don't brake, do they?
...

Well, not as spectacular, but still broken.

I had a broken hope front hub last year. And did a repair on that one, because they sure are pretty.
This is a picture of the replacement flange I made:

That is impressive work. How much effort was it to make? Could there be a nice sideline in fixing broken Hope hubs?

'hmmm, I wonder if radial lacing was a contributing factor?
DOes make it more likely, but no one (so far) seems to have posted a radially laced wheel!

Some models/manufacturers even specifically exclude radial lacing.
